The Story Behind The Lemon Grapefruit Martini

Today I’m putting together a martini with a lot of citrus and just a little bit of sugar that’s perfect for day drinking. The fresh citrus gives this cocktail a refreshing feeling when you’re out in the hot sun, and the touch of sugar helps to balance out all the acidity.

I love to make cocktails that allow you to concentrate on hosting when your guests arrive and not simply making drinks, and this cocktail certainly fits the bill. Using fresh fruit here is key, as concentrated citrus just won’t give you the same taste — your friends are sure to notice. But don’t worry, the juice can be pre-squeezed and bottled for a few hours before the party so you aren’t stuck for long periods of time juicing citrus when your friends are ready for another drink.
