The Story Behind The Tiki Punch

With the re-resurgence of tiki culture comes tropical cocktails made with whiskey, Scotch, and more. Rum still plays a part, of course, but contemporary tiki tastemakers are inviting the entire bar to the grass-skirted party.

VinePair contributor Natalie Migliarini, whose wanderlust-inducing Instagram handle is @beautifulbooze, created this large-format tiki punch using Seagram’s vodka, pineapple juice, and mint simple syrup. To make the latter, drop a few sprigs of mint leaves into homemade simple syrup as it cools.

Ingredients

  • 1 750-milliliter bottle of vodka, such as Seagram’s
  • 3 cups pineapple juice
  • 2 cups lime juice
  • 1 cup mint simple syrup
  • Mint leaves, lime wheels, and pineapple slices for garnish (optional)

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and top with ice.
  2. Stir to mix.
  3. Serve with garnishes over ice.
