One sip of Sangria and you’re automatically transported to Spain. The perfect celebratory cocktail, especially in warmer months, Sangria has taken on a life of it’s own over the past few years. Where the wines traditionally used have always been made with a dry red or sometimes a dry white, now almost any wine can be found as the base for the elixir, from crisp and bright whites to off-dry rose and even bubbly. With so many variations many of these recipes can be extremely complicated, but not anymore. We tested and perfected five Sangria recipes to come up with the best easy and delicious Sangrias no matter your taste or mood. With only a few simple ingredients and a short amount of time, you’ll be able to whip up a delicious Sangria and immediately imagine yourself drinking on the streets of Spain.
The Traditionalist
For many, Sangria means dry red wine, a bit of sweetness and some nice chunks of fruit. Knowing that most people don’t have liqueurs or brandy on hand when they’re in the mood for Sangria, we created this homage to the classic that utilizes orange soda instead.
The Ingredients:
- 1 bottle of dry red wine
- 1 cup Orangina [can substitute Fanta]
- 2 apples cut into 1 inch chunks
- 1 cup of chunked pineapple
- 2 oranges cut into 1 inch chunks
Combine all ingredients in a pitcher with ice and stir to combine. If you want the concoction a bit sweeter, add more of the Orangina to taste. Allow the Sangria to sit for at least 15 minutes before serving so the flavors can meld. The longer it sits, the better it will be.
Sangria In A Flash
In the mood for Sangria but don’t want all the fuss of cutting up all that fruit? No problem, this three ingredient Sangria is insanely satisfying – a little sweet with notes of citrus – and can go from bottle to your glass in just five minutes.
The Ingredients:
- 1 bottle of dry red wine
- 2 cans of San Pellegrino Aranciata Rossa
- 1 pint of fresh raspberries
Pour wine into a pitcher filled with ice and add the two cans of Aranciata Rossa. Stir to combine and then drop in your raspberries. Pour and enjoy. Sangria for days.
Refreshing White Sangria
Many White Sangrias can be sickly sweet and when we think of white wine, we really want something light and refreshing. With that in mind we combined fresh cucumber, lemon and sprite to create a delicious Sangria that has a hint of sweetness without being cloying, maintaining the wine’s refreshing qualities.
The Ingredients:
- 1 bottle of crisp white wine such as Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio
- 1 English cucumber cut in thin slices on an angle
- 2 lemons cut into thin slices
- 1 can of Sprite
Combine all ingredients in a pitcher filled with ice. If you wish for the drink to be a bit sweeter, add another can of Sprite. Let the Sangria sit for at least 15 minutes before serving.
Delightful Rosé Sangria
If you’re looking for a Sangria that’s refreshing and also a bit fruity, this Rosé Sangria is your jam and on top of being delicious it looks absolutely lovely in the glass.
The Ingredients:
- 1 bottle of your favorite rosé
- 1 cup orange juice or Orangina
- 2 peaches or nectarines sliced
- 2 oranges sliced
- half a cantaloupe cut into chunks
Combine all ingredients in a pitcher filled with ice. Allow to sit for 15 minutes before serving. Bask in the pink beauty.
A Bubbly Celebratory Sangria
Sometimes you just crave bubbles and this Sangria is the perfect fix, the drink’s effervescence just lightening the mood.
The Ingredients:
- 1 bottle of your favorite sparkling wine
- 2 white peaches or nectarines cut into slices
- half a cantaloupe cut into chunks
- ½ cup of good honey
Combine all ingredients in a pitcher and stir to dissolve the honey. Add ice. Let the ingredients sit for at least 15 minutes. Serve.
