The Story Behind The Argentinean Summer

Today we are bringing you a cocktail inspired by a burger joint in Buenos Aires. It's true -- sometimes a burger wants to take a cocktail to the party! But not to worry if you're a wine-and-meat kind of person: We've incorporated some delicious Argentinean white wine into the mix. The Torrontés wine seems relatively unknown in the U.S., and so underutilized that I decided I just had to introduce it to this cocktail. I needed a little sugar to boost the dry gin base, so I made some fresh strawberry simple syrup, which really balanced well. But when I topped it off with the Torrontés, I couldn't shake the feeling that it still needed a little something something. To give this cocktail the kick it needed, I grabbed some grapefruit and added in just a dash of fresh juice to bring everything together and make this cocktail delicious and balanced.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 ounces dry gin
  • 3 ounces Torrontés wine
  • 1 ounce strawberry simple syrup
  • ½ ounce grapefruit juice
  • 2 cups ice

Directions

  1. Combine gin, strawberry simple syrup, grapefruit juice and 1 cup of ice in a shaker
  2. Shake hard to chill and mix ingredients
  3. Fill Collins glass with 1 cup ice
  4. Strain chilled mix over ice
  5. Top with Torrontés wine
  6. Garnish and Enjoy!
