The Story Behind The Mandarin Gin Punch

Finding fun ways to use fresh, delicious ingredients in cocktails is pretty much how I spend my days. So when I was enjoying a juicy mandarin last week, I decided I definitely needed to make something with it.

Mojito simple syrup (Monin makes a great one) is something I love adding to cocktails this time of year to give them a little summer hit. The syrup worked perfectly with the mandarin juice, though I worried the cocktail was a bit sweeter than I’d intended. Some fresh lemon and a few dashes of dry curacao did the trick and cut through the sugar beautifully.

Ingredients

  • 3 ounces gin
  • 2 ounces mandarin juice
  • 2 ounces Mojito simple syrup, such as Monin
  • 2 ounces lemon juice
  • 1 ounce dry curacao

Directions

  1. Combine ingredients in a teapot with ice.
  2. Stir to chill and combine.
  3. Strain into teacups over fresh ice.
