Here's how to make wine popsicles

Nothing harkens back to childhood like a popsicle. The tartness combined with just the right hint of fruit and color make an ice pop the second best frozen treat. The ultimate indulgence? Wine popsicles! In the spirit of nostalgia, we decided to harken back to the groovy days and make a recipe with one of the most popular cooking and drinking ingredients of the 1970’s: the pineapple. Pineapples are perfect with tiki cocktails, barbecue, and, as it turns out, white wine. So we married this tropical fruit with the punchy flavors of Sauvignon Blanc to give you the perfect adult frozen treats. Here’s how you make them.

  • Popsicle Molds
  • A freezer

In a sauce pot, add the water, sugar, and lemon juice. Bring to a boil and wait until the sugar dissolves. Congratulations! You’ve just made simple syrup. If you want to cheat, simply use about 1/3 cup of simple syrup combined with 2 tablespoons of lemon juice.

In each popsicle mold, add a tiny wedge of pineapple, and a little squirt of honey. Mix the Sauvignon Blanc with your simple syrup and pour the mixture into your molds. Freeze overnight, remove, and delight in your delicious dessert. Remember: there’s no need for these boozy pops to be frozen solid. Chances are, if you had one too many glasses of Sauvignon Blanc while you were making your pops, they could end up resembling slushies. But who cares? They’re still filled with wine! Stick your wine slush in a cup and enjoy as a snow cone. And feel free to savor these in public – we’ll keep your secret safe.
