The Story Behind The Paloma Paradiso

The Paloma is a classic cocktail that flew under the radar for a long time. Now, with huge growth in tequila and mezcal in the United States, this drink is back in the spotlight.

There are countless variations. This one takes the original Paloma recipe — tequila, lime, salt, and grapefruit soda — and elevates it substantially with fresh fruit juices and cherry heering. The balance is really delicious, and the notes of sweetness from the agave syrup really set it apart.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 ounces tequila blanco
  • ½ ounce cherry heering
  • ¾ ounce pineapple juice
  • 1 ounce grapefruit juice
  • ½ ounce agave syrup

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a cocktail glass with ice.
  2. Shake to chill and combine ingredients.
  3. Fine strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice.
  4. Enjoy!
