The Story Behind The Rum Negroni

With summer finally here and the sun warming our shoulders and faces, we're feeling quite Mediterranean. With the warm days and the cooler evenings, our souls are yearning for outdoor café-sipping, and for something bright and bitter all at once. We decided to put a spin on the Italian cocktail we love so much, the Negroni.

Probably the most renowned classic cocktail of all time, the Negroni is a polarizing character. You either love the Negroni or you hate it (as should be the case with all warm-blooded Mediterraneans). With the bitter aperitif Campari being showcased front and center, surrounded by complementing gin and sweet vermouth, this cocktail can grow on those who are training their palates. But if you take a sip of this lovely classic before you’re ready, you may end up never converting. Luckily, by replacing the gin with something like a good dark rum, you can soften the blow a little, and even slowly come to love the Negroni. Our rum Negroni is your training wheels into the intense, explosive-but-complicated world of this Italian cocktail.
