The Story Behind The Curaçao Rum Runner

With so many great new rums coming into the U.S. market, I’ve had a lot of fun lately playing around with flavors and coming up with rum cocktails.

I always head straight to the classic Old Fashioned cocktail when I want to showcase the complexity of a spirit in its rawest state. In this case it turned out great but I wanted to add a little more depth so I grabbed some Dry Curaçao and it balanced the cocktail perfectly. I also added some orange bitters because I think they pair excellently with the Curaçao and añejo rum.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 ounces añejo rum
  • 1 ounce Pierre Ferrand Dry Curaçao
  • 2 dashes orange bitters

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass with ice.
  2. Stir to chill and combine.
  3. Strain over a fresh ice cube.
  4. Enjoy!
