If there’s one thing celebrities love buying lately, it’s spirits. Mega stars like Diddy and 50 Cent launched vodka brands; George Clooney vied for tequila, and most recently, mezcal.

Next to cash in on the trend is Ryan Reynolds, who, along with paving his way to fame with superhero roles like Green Lantern and Deadpool, has announced “significant” ownership in one Portland, Ore.-based spirit: Aviation Gin.

Reynolds is reportedly the first celebrity to invest in gin, doing so with Aviation “for one simple reason: It’s the best damn gin on the planet,” he said in an email to Forbes.

Aviation, a small producer based out of Portland, Ore. is credited for starting the American gin trend. Owned by Davos Brands, a craft spirits importer and marketer, Aviation reportedly sold 15,000 cases of its gin in 2016, according to Beverage Marketing Corporation’s DrinkTell database. The brand is believed to have increased that amount to around 18,000 cases in 2017, writes Forbes.

“Ryan has worked tirelessly to create some of the world’s most iconic media properties and will bring that drive and creativity to sharing Aviation with the world,” Andrew T. Chrisomalis, CEO of Davos Brands, said.

Well, we know Reynolds loves the stuff. We’ll have to wait and see how Deadpool takes the edge off after saving the day in Deadpool 2, out this May.
