Veramonte Primus The Blend 2015 Review

This wine is powerful. This wine is elegant. It takes a skilled hand to make these two characteristics dance together and Sofia Araya (winemaker) and José Aguirre (agricultural manager) know exactly how to achieve such harmony. This blend is huge, consisting of most of the Bordeaux varieties, while displaying a unique Chilean style, proving these grapes are home here. The awesomeness hits you immediately on the nose with aromas of unctuous seasoned raw meat tinged with mint. After you wrap you brain around how great that is some earthy underbrush (just enough) brings a beetroot white pepper vibe. On the palate this wine is gloriously chewy with firm balanced tannins and a plum aroma for good measure. It is under $20. It’s worth much more.
