San Stefano Chianti Classico DOCG 2016 Review

Classico wines coming from the Greve township are more concentrated than other communes. This Classico is a good example of this. Made only from Sangiovese and Canaiolo, this Classico is so classic, it even eschews Bordeaux varieties that have become in-vogue. And in doing so, the wine is true to the legacy of the region. Soft, concentrated, and medium bodied there are vibrant notes of dark cherry and tomato leaf (a sexy vegetal aroma). The earthiness of the Sangiovese is personified by the rigor and depth of the Canaiolo, concentrating the balanced perception of oak with a small hint of vanilla. This a great food wine for a weekday meal with friends or family.
