Ruffino Riserva Ducale Oro Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG 2014 Review

There must have been some difficulty in this vintage as the fruit and complexity struggle for a voice but do do their job. The nose is dominated by rose petal aromas with some cherry raising it’s hand but never really being called upon. The palate is somehow leaner than the nose with twiggy underbrush notes overpowering the rose and cherry notes. The finish is quicker than a blink of an eye and leaves an impression of dry underbrush and some petrol. If this is the only Gran Selezione available and you want to give it a go, then you’ll be fine, especially if you're gifting for a social gathering where conversation is the focus and not the wine.
