Viña San Pedro '1865 Single Vineyard' Pinot Noir 2015 Review

This is a very well priced Pinot Noir from Viña San Pedro, a Chilean winery particularly known for their nearly-ubiquitous 'Gato Negro' label. This '1865 Single Vineyard' bottling is from a vineyard site in Chile's Elqui Valley, a warm, dry area that marks the northern extent of Chile's wine growing regions. The color is a translucent, deep garnet, and aromas include fresh raspberries and a hint of roses. The texture is fresh, lively, and crisp, with only a hint of tannins. The first sip is fruit-driven, with a long, dry, clean finish. While not the most complex Pinot, this is an honest and authentic expression of what Pinot is supposed to taste like, and is an excellent value at $14.
