Mulderbosch ‘Faithful Hound’ 2014 Review
This is a very savory and aromatic Bordeaux-style blend from South Africa. It’s a dark color, and has very pronounced aromas of cedar, sandalwood, tobacco, and spice. There’s a lot of blackberry fruit on the palate, but most of the flavors are savory, such as unsweetened cocoa powder and dried black currants. This wine smells like your grandfather’s study, if your grandfather was a South African gentleman-farmer. If you like spiced, savory wines that still have nice fruit flavors, give this a try.
