Los Vascos Grande Reserve Carmenere 2015 Review

This is an elegant Chilean Carmémère from the Domaines Barons de Rothschild (the family who own the famous Chateau Lafite in Bordeaux). Typical of Chilean Carmémère, it has aromas of coffee and cocoa power – but with intensity and nuances that could be mistaken for an old-world wine. Flavors are intense and include ripe cherries, spice, and only a hint of green bell pepper. This wine is like a Chilean student who studied in Paris, picked up a French accent and developed a habit for quoting Sartre. Drink it on its own or pair it will grilled meats.
