Allagash White Review

Brewed for the first time in 1995 and now a household name, this hazy Belgian-style wheat beer spiced with coriander and Curacao orange peel impresses us time and time again.

Pouring the cloudiest, palest of straw yellow with a bright white, crackling head, Allagash White is the perfect American rendition of a Belgian Wit. Pepper, clove, and lemon aromas fill the nose, tell-tale signs of Allagash's spicy house yeast. Light-bodied, crisp refreshment follows, earned from a proprietary blend of two-row malted barley, along with red wheat malt, raw white wheat, Carapils malt, and oats. Classic hops—floral Nugget, spicy Crystal, and earthy Czech Saaz—allow for a pleasing herbal finish. Drink this one with or without food, with or without pretension, and with or without agenda; it will be sure to please any palate, person, or plan.
