Ponzi Abetina 2 Vineyard Pinot Noir 2016 Review

The Ponzi fam are Oregon wine pioneers, so I am not sure what is happening here. On the nose this wine is straight up cherry cola with vanilla cream; that’s it. When it opens a little bit of mocha comes out, but the complexity stops there (maybe the vines are too young?). On the palate things get a bit better with the addition of some weird savory balsamic happening and soft silky tannin. It is a good wine, but the price is ridiculous. If someone gifted me this wine I would be happy to pop and share, but if I had $100 for a bottle of wine this would not be a go to.
