Panther Creek Willamette Valley Pinot Gris 2016 Review

Pinot Gris from Willamette is a definite hit or miss. When it misses, the wine is neutral, lean and lacking depth. When it hits, it tastes like this wine from a pioneering winery in Oregon. The current winemaker, the fifth since 1986, is on point carrying on Panther Creek's legacy, with pear and melon aromas leading to just a hint of lemon zest. But this wine is all about the palate. It is at once crisp and refreshing as it is broad with frothy acidity and a comfortable mineral-driven weight on the palate which coaxes out a whisper of almond. This is a great wine to share with fellow wine lovers over a cheese plate.
