Marchesi Antinori "Peppoli" Chianti Classico DOCG 2016 Review
There is no denying this wine is balanced. Is it representative of Chianti Classico? Not so much. Is it reflective of the Casciano Val di Pesa commune of the Classico zone? Sort of. It does have a nice, bright acidity and aromas of sour cherry and slight notes of earth, but the oak is too powerful for subtlety here, starving the wine of complexity. It is a good crowd pleaser though, as the more modern style will please new world palates, and the vibrant acidity will appease those more old world tastes.
