Kendall-Jackson Grand Reserve Chardonnay 2017
Review
It is not clear what this wine means by Grand Reserve (there are no laws in our system for such designations), but if this wine had less alcohol it’s sustainable vineyard practices, as stated on the site, would be more apparent. Sugar was once alcohol so the higher the level, the sweeter the perception, and the harder the wine is to extract complexity. Here we have a rich, almost boozy, white wine with notes of tropical candied fruit and aloe, followed by a coconut lemon curd coulis. This wine is nostalgic for the days of old, when the oak was big and the alcohol was high. A wine of the times this is not.
