Joel Gott Palisades Red Wine 2015 Review
The following tasting notes are what a typical, affordable Cali red blend for a weeknight should smell and taste like. Pencil shavings, blackberry and plum fruit with soft tannins and good acidity heightening the slight vanilla from the oak with a hint of strap leather as it opens. That is what we have here in Joel Gott's Palisades red, which is a blend of fruit from three different AVA's including Napa, Monterey and Lodi. We are not expressing terroir here, but at 13.9% alcohol the balance of fruit and acidity is on point, and you can't go wrong for a hump day dinner gathering or a netflix and chill.
