J. Lohr Highlands Bench Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir 2016 Review

On their site they state that these grapes come from the highest elevation in their vineyards, but this does not come through in the wine. It has lean fruit and high ABV (alcohol by volume) which is fine (and more of a valley floor style), but those two elements seem to fight each other for prominence, and end up continually separated while the sweetness from the alcohol becomes the prominent perception of texture. That sweetness saves the wine though, making it a good gift for those who enjoy the boozier side of Pinot.
