Fullerton Five Faces Willamette Valley Chardonnay 2016 Review

It’s not often that a Chardonnay comes onto the market below 13% alcohol, but it makes sense coming from the Willamette Valley. Refreshing is not a word often associated with this grape, yet that’s my first sense when experiencing this wine. Like pulling a wet stone from a river, this wine is all mineral-driven under a layer of distinct banana and vanilla aromas that don’t overwhelm because that salinity keeps your senses stimulated as it all floats around your brain. It is focused, angular and delicious, even if it is not very complex. This is the chardonnay for that salad more so than many other chardonnays.
