Four Virtues Bourbon Barrel Aged Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 Review
I am confused. This is a Cab but I don’t recognize any characteristics that would tell me so. This wine was aged in bourbon barrels which covers most of the inherent aromas of the grape. What is left is a wine with aromas of intense vanilla and charred wood. The wine is void of a tannin structure, which is crazy for Cab, and could be mistaken for an oak-y merlot. The palate is lean and sweet, making you lick your chops after every sip. It’s under $17 so if you're curious about this new style this bottle is a safe guinea pig.
