Ferrarri Perle Bianco Riserva Trento DOC 2009 Review

Chardonnay can yield some heavy wines, even for sparkling, but in the Dolomites of northern Italy the Lunelli family call Chardonnay mountain fruit and that comes through in their wines. The Perle Bianco is 100% Chardonnay and shows the elegance this grape can present. The energetic and persistent bubbles amplify the bright citrus notes and green apple, while allowing the subtle hints of almond to come out and play but not dominate. The harmony of angularity and depth is unique to Ferrari and why they are the reason the Trento DOC exists. This is a wine for food, or company, or both, and always worth the price.
