Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite Legende Saint-Emilion 2016
Review
The Legende series by the Rothschilds is a nice way to introduce yourself to the regions of Bordeaux, not break the bank, see what you like, and then break that bank if you're so inclined. This is a more powerful expression of the Merlot based wines of Saint Emilion, but as it opens all the right aromas are there. The wine opens with red currant and cedar and a hint of blood pudding with violets. On the palate Cab Franc says hello with white pepper and shrub-land herbs (rosemary, thyme) balanced by well structured tannins and medium fruit depth. This wine can age for a while as well, making it a great entry into the wine of this region.
