Chardonnay is everywhere and it is so fun to experience its many personalities across the world. Here’s one from Southern France that is organic, affordable, and a step away from the usual, which may be an acquired taste for some, with good results. It sees concrete instead of oak and is focused more on the primary aromas of this grape such as lemon, pear and apple with notes of beeswax, wet rock and some jasmine. There is a lot going on in this wine with bracing acidity and the perception of abundant minerality. Despite all of these high-tone characteristics there is a headiness to the wine giving it a nice depth that would pair well with hearty salads, seafood dishes and semi-soft cow and sheep’s milk based cheeses.
