Castello di Meleto "Meleto" Chianti Classico DOCG 2016 Review

The commune of Gaiole has higher elevation than others in the Classico zone resulting in wines with bright acidity as well as structure. This Classico from Gailoe is a literal IRL example. The wine has such bright acidity that the aroma of fresh picked cherries is the first thing that greets your nose followed by an in intoxicating floral note of waxy rose petals and violets laid into a hint of earth, all floating in a cumulus cloud of balanced phenolics and acidity. This wine is bright, youthful and alive and drinking it now will do you just fine. The tannins are a bit green, but not overpowering, making it a nice foil for the party going on around it without getting in the way. Pop this bottle, put on some Louis Prima and have one hell of a sunset.
