Castello di Cacchiano FonteMerlano Rosso Toscana IGT 2009 Review

Ok guys this is a 100% (cento per cento, as they say on the boot) merlot, it’s a 2009 vintage, and is aging beautifully. The tannins are still softening, which is crazy, and what was once plum and blueberry fruit has evolved into savory umami vibes like the sweet smell of balsamic and steeped cherries. Also, because of those ornery tannins, the inherent peppery notes of the grape shine through, winding through the wine like a band of minerality, lifting the wine up so you can enjoy the depth. If you see this bottle, spend the money and see why Miles was wrong.
