Made from a blend of native grapes of the region this $33 bottle of Chianti is worth every cent you lay down. It’s the kind of the Classico you can use to compare to every other one you buy going forward as this is an excellent example of old school Chianti made by the family that created the Chianti blend. This wine is dark, smooth and brooding with a deep, broad palate and tannins that have softened over the years making room for the acidity to showcase classic sour cherry notes (morello maybe?) and earthy soil notes with just a bit of balsamic to add a savory complexity. This is one of those wines that is hard to convey in a short review. You need to experience it for yourself.
