The Greve township in the Classico zone has some of the highest elevation in these hills and the result are wines with bracing acidity and grippy tannin. This wine shows these characteristics in spades with the signature cherry fruit, earth, and floral aromas mingling with some balsamic and plum. The savory nature of the wine, due to a blend of only native varieties, is a treat, as this is the way it was before the rules allowed for French grapes. If you are used to having some Merlot in your Chianti, this will be extremely different, but if you are a history buff you’ll dig the legacy.
