Bodegas Nekeas "El Chapparral De Vega Sindona" Old Vine Garnacha 2016 Review

Concha Vecino knows how to respect 70-100 year-old Garnacha vines. She makes this wine from grapes of the highest plains (chaparral) in Navarra Valley and in a winery that was once a cooperative, keeping that old school vibe while coaxing a beautiful balance out of these gnarled giants. There is so much going on in this wine, with clove, mint, eucalyptus, cracked pepper and olives just to start. All this flavor is balanced by soft cherry fruit, slight mocha and a broad mouthfeel. At $14 a bottle buy a few and fire up that grill with some lean meat and have at it.
