Bear Republic Challenge Series #11 Double Brut IPA
Review
What is a double brut IPA? No one really knows. But Bear Republic ventures to pin down the as-of-yet-nonexistent style with the 11th in its pub-only Challenge series. It does a good job: It's surprisingly light-bodied despite its 8 percent ABV, and has creamy notes of dried apricot, peach, and pineapple, then finishes bitter and dry. It's not exactly sessionable like a brut IPA, but it's a session in itself. Drink it sitting down.
