Carneros Chardonnay can be a bit pricey, but if you're spending some bucks on Napa white, this cool-climate region is your best bet. The famous Codorníu Raventós, pioneers of Cava in Spain, fell in love with Carneros a couple of decades ago and began Artesa, focusing on Chard and Pinot. Guys, they have some mad skills. This wine is full bodied but round and broad due to the great acidity, with pronounced notes of lemon, and the citrus concentration of mandarin, with a dose of vanilla, and a distinct waft of cedar that brings the complexity full circle. This is a great wine to share with like minded Chard lovers and will convert ABC’ers.
