There is probably no more perfect choice for Valentine’s Day than a bottle of sparkling rosé, and you’d be hard-pressed to find a more perfect bottle for the money than the one made by famed New Mexico bubbly producer Gruet. There’s nothing quite like pink bubbles to get everyone in the mood. It also doesn’t hurt that Gruet themselves call this wine “the juice of love.”
The wine is a beautiful light pink with fine bubbles – it’s made in the traditional method used to make Champagne – and it gives off aromas of fresh strawberries and cherries. On the palate, the flavors are more of the same, delightfully light with delicious red berry fruit. In addition, the wine’s acidity and soft minerality give it balance and bit of complexity. It’s exactly what you’d want in a bubbly rosé .
At its $16 average price, this is probably the best budget sparkling around, so drink up.
