The Story Behind The Pineapple Negroni
Over the past year the Negroni has taken on a life of its own. Renowned for its strong, bitter flavor profile, the classic cocktail has become incredibly popular, partly because it’s many a bartender's first choice at the end of a long shift.
Although most would say the drink is perfect the way it is, I’ve taken the liberty of adding a little pineapple to the mix in order to sweeten it up for those with a more delicate palate.
The classic Negroni is simple in its brilliance, calling for equal parts of three ingredients: gin, Campari and sweet vermouth. Its simplicity is what also makes the addition of pineapple possible, allowing the fruit’s sweet characteristics to compliment the bittersweet aspects of the drink.
