The Story Behind The Chartreuse Daiquiri

This week I was experimenting with Daiquiris and wanted to create something with an earthy, herbal profile. A great rhum agricole from Australia turned out to be the perfect base. Anytime I’m looking for herbal flavors I reach straight for the Chartreuse. The green variety has all the right notes to complement the lime juice in the Daiquiri, and a splash of honey water gave my cocktail balance. (To make honey water, I simply thinned honey with equal parts water.) The result is a beautifully bright spin on a classic Daiquiri.

Ingredients

  • 1 ounce rhum agricole
  • 1 ounce green Chartreuse
  • 1 ounce lime juice
  • ¾ ounce honey water

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a shaker with ice.
  2. Shake hard to chill and combine.
  3. Finely strain into a coupe glass.
  4. Garnish with a lime wheel.
  5. Enjoy!
