Albert Einstein once said that “the most aggravating thing about the younger generation is that I no longer belong to it.” If he were alive today, though, he would have realized that he will always belong in the hearts and minds of younger generations throughout time.
On March 28, 404 youth involved in the “Next Einstein” competition gathered in Toronto’s MaRS Discovery District to break a Guinness World Record for the “largest gathering of people dressed as Albert Einstein.” Hundreds of people wearing white wigs and taped on white mustaches huddled together in honor of the father of relativity, the Toronto Star reports.
The Guinness World Record was just one part of the gathering, though. The Next Einstein competition gives a $10,000 award for an idea that will “make the world a better place.” Underneath the wigs and behind the mustaches are 404 people in their early teens who will some day invent something that changes the world.
Sure, 404 is less than the 1,326 dogs that set the record for most dogs in costumed attire, but 404 young geniuses gathered in one spot for a good cause? Now that’s a Guinness World Record worth remembering.
