This morning, Taco Bell and Blue Point Brewery announced the launch of a new beer, Big City Bell Pilsner, at select Taco Bell locations in New York, starting December 24.

The beer release is timed with the launch of three new Taco Bell Cantina locations in NYC, which officially open this month at 800 8th Ave., 224 7th Ave., and 500 8th Ave. in Manhattan. Big City Bell Pilsner will be brewed by Blue Point Brewery, which is based in Patchogue, Long Island.

“We’re so excited to be part of the Cantina launch in our hometown,” Jenna Lally, Blue Point president, said in a press release. “We’re looking forward to New Yorkers relaxing and enjoying some tacos with the new Big City Bell Pilsner.”

The beer collaboration seems to have been cooking for some time. In June, Blue Point directed several flirty taunts at Taco Bell on social media, saying things such as “Hey, Taco Bell,” “Let’s be friends Taco Bell,” and “Live Macho. Drink Muchacho. Your move, Taco Bell,” showing the food chain’s fare paired with Blue Point’s Mexican-style lager, Macho Muchacho.

Sometimes, all you gotta do is ask.

Why Blue Point and Taco Bell decided to call the beer a pilsner and not a Mexican-style lager is beyond us, but rest assured, it’s “brewed with a blend of hops for a lime and citrus fruit aroma,” a spokesperson told VinePair in an email. Its crisp, balanced body will undoubtedly pair well with that Crunchwrap Supreme.
