Mariah Carey brought new meaning to the power of song this weekend when she participated in (and obliterated) the “Bottle Cap Challenge.” The hashtag-driven competition, referred to as both the #BottleCapChallenge and #BottleTopChallenge on Twitter, involves people popping bottles in creative ways.
Carey posted a video on Twitter with the caption, “Challenge accepted! #bottletopchallenge.” In the clip, she hits her infamous fifth-octave whistle register, and lo and behold, pops a bottle of wine using her voice alone.

The bottle, a screw-top white Burgundy from Joseph Drouhin, seems to pop open in an instant (about three seconds total). Drouhin retweeted Carey’s video, saying, “Many thanks to @mariahcarey for choosing our ‘Laforet’ wine from Burgundy for the #bottletopchallenge.”
