In March 2017, BrewDog announced plans to open a craft beer hotel at the site of its U.S. brewery in Columbus, Ohio. With an accompanying crowdfunding campaign aimed to gauge beer drinkers’ interest, BrewDog smashed the initial $75,000 target in less than a week, and went on to secure over $300,000 in funding. The answer, it seemed, was a resounding “yes” from budding beercationers.

A little over a year later, BrewDog announced that the DogHouse hotel will officially open its doors on August 27. “Those who backed the campaign have had first access to room reservations,” BrewDog said in its official press release, “and more than 500 nights have already been pre-booked by the craft beer community.”

BrewDog describes the DogHouse as the “hoppiest place” on earth, where guests will be able to watch brewers at work from the comfort of their rooms, and wake up to the smell of freshly mashed malt. Each of the hotel’s 32 rooms will also feature its very own beer tap, and a built-in shower beer fridge (we all love a good shower beer!).

The conventional hotel front desk has been ditched in favor of a lobby bartender, “who will check guests in while they enjoy a complimentary beer,” BrewDog says. Next to the main lobby, there are four dog-friendly rooms —BrewDog is famously fond of man’s best friend— with easy access to the hotel’s dog park.

“For many beer fans, the idea of a beer hotel was just a pipe-dream. A beer utopia that was never thought possible. Until now,” BrewDog co-founder James Watt notes in the press release. “Thanks to the backing of our global community of beer evangelists, we’ve been hard at work to make that dream a reality.”

BrewDog is hailing the DogHouse as the “world’s first and only fully-immersive craft beer experience from check-in to check-out.” Yet the concept of offering overnight accommodation at craft breweries is nothing new. Back in January, VinePair reported on its favorite hotels for beer lovers. Now, it seems, there’s one more to add to that list.
