Beer Delivery Team Saves Man’s Life With Case of Beer

On Wednesday in St. Paul, Mich., two men saved another man’s life by offering him a beer.

Beer salesman Kwame Anderson and driver Jason Gaebel, both employees of Breakthru Beverage, were on their beer delivery route when they encountered a man aiming to end his life on the Earl Street Bridge over Interstate 94 in St. Paul. Gaebel inquired whether the man was alright.

Anderson, who is also a comedian, struck up a conversation with the man and eventually offered him a case of Coors Light from the truck. “I have a pack of Coors Light for you,” he said. “Follow me.” The man followed, and emergency responders arrived on the scene.

“Beer has been bringing people together for a long, long time,” Sgt. Mike Ernster, St. Paul Police spokesman, told the Pioneer Press. “Today, it brought people together in a life-saving way.”

The man, who is 29 and originally from Chicago, didn’t get his Coors Light—instead, EMTs took him for a medical evaluation, City Pages reports—but Anderson hopes to meet the man again someday.

“I want to invite him out to a [comedy] show, brighten up his day if I can,” Anderson said.

It’s a happy enough ending, and a little proof that beer and conversation can save a life. “It’s a good day,” Anderson says at the conclusion of a video posted to his Facebook page.
