In partnership with 20th Century Fox for its forthcoming animated film, “Alita: Battle Angel,” Three Weavers Brewing of Inglewood, Calif. is launching three custom beers at “Passport to Iron City,” a pop-up event taking place in Los Angeles, New York City, and Austin in advance of the film’s February 14 debut.
The brewery worked closely with the filmmakers to create three beers for the events, which depicts “an exact replica” of a bar central to the film, Three Weavers wrote in an email. A different beer will debut in each host city: In New York, Berserker IPA, a “big” double-dry-hopped wheat IPA; in Austin, Badlands Gose, an “eclectic” pomegranate lime gose brewed in collaboration with Oskar Blues; and in Los Angeles, Panzer Kunst Brut Pale, a “fashionable” lemon basil brut ale, the press release said.
Other Three Weavers beers will also be available at the events.
Alita, an animated film based on the manga “Battle Angel Alita” by Yukito Kishiro, takes place in the retro-futuristic Iron City, where a cyborg girl must learn to navigate her life in the dystopian streets. The pop-up events will include immersive, team-based activities related to the film.
“I created Three Weavers to show my three daughters that anything is possible with direction and perseverance,” Lynne Weaver, Three Weavers president and founder, said. “I love that Alita is a strong female character that will inspire young girls like my girls.”
Passport to Iron City is happening now through spring, with early bird tickets available for $25. The price will rise to $55 after February 14. Ticket and location information are available here.
